Introducing the first ever supercar that was proven to reach 253 mph (407.5km/h) the Bugatti Veyron, currently holding the throne with the fastest road-legal production car in the world. The car is built by the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen AG, one of the largest automotive companies worldwide. Veyron is sold under the legendary Italian/French Bugatti marque under Volkswagen subsidiary, Bugatti Automobiles SAS. The Bugatti Veyron features a 6 litre W16 configuration engine with 16 cylinders in 4 banks which is near equivalent to dual narrow V8 engines.
Veyron is fed with quad turbochargers producing massive 1001 bhp. To accommodate its top speed, it uses special Michelin run-flat tires designed specifically for the Veyron. Fastest top speed record at 257 mph (414km/h). Notably James May, a presenter from BBC2 television series Top Gear reached 407 km/h or 253 mph in Bugatti Veyron. It was tested at Ehra-Lessien, a private test track owned by Volkswagen AG. The Veyron gives me the impression of being too bulky but surprisingly agile. While it may look ordinary on pictures but I m sure as heck it will look stunning on the road.
The next contender is the Koenigsegg CCX from a Swedish supercar manufacturer, Koenigsegg. The CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coupe X, won the World's Fastest V8 production supercar. The CCX is powered by Koenigsegg's own engine design, a 4.7 liter DOHC 32-Valve twin-supercharged V8. It produces 870 bhp on 110 octane fuel and 1018 bhp on environmental friendly bio-fuel. The body is fully constructed using pre-impregnated carbon fibre/kelvar and lightweight sandwich reinforcements which makes it lighter than Veyron. What makes this supercar different than Bugatti Veyron is that, you can tune the engine to utilize on different types of fuel which is not possible compared to the other supercars. The CCX is now being superseeded by CCXR, a tuned version of the same twin-supercharged V8 converted to utilize ethanol fuel. It produces 1018 bhp, 17 more than Veyron. With lighter body weight and exceptional power to weight ratio, CCXR will technically beat Veyron in a straight line. However, there was no official speed record that proves CCXR exceeds 257 mph or 414km/h.
